Between the lines | Hannah Vellacott

This body of work explores the connection between needlepoint and painting.

Needle point is a slow, meditative process; when unplanned, each image evolves organically as colours and shapes come together and inform the next. I have tried to translate this fluidity and intuitive progression into painting by starting with a grid, then incorporating collage elements, and allowing the artwork to develop spontaneously. 

I enjoy working in this nature with needlepoint, where each stitch informs the next. When applying the same approach with painting, it becomes a risky process with a similar sense of exploration and discovery.

The exhibition open Saturday 4 May and runs until Saturday 1 June.

Works will be available to collect or be posted from Tuesday 4 June.
